A Bible Study That Will Bring You Joy

This is a FABULOUS study on joy that comes from God. This study references scriptures throughout the Bible. I loved this study and that it focuses on biblical truth about joy. It’s a 6 week study (5 days per week). Each day begins with a personal story from an (in)courage contributor. These stories along with the diving into scripture really brings home the knowledge that you can have true joy regardless of your circumstances. It is a MUST read!

Great Book

I’m really enjoying doing this study. I recommend it.

Amazing

A great idea if you’re looking for peace

Learn to Live the Simple Life

We live in a busy, hurry up world, where our value comes from how much we can cram into a day. However, God calls us to a different way of living. This is outlined in the newest Bible study from (in)Courage, Courageous Simplicity: Abide in the Simple Abundance of Jesus. This six week study is broken down into five sessions per week, and each session is about five pages. While the shorter length makes the sessions manageable, this study will make you think. I loved that it had me in my Bible daily! Each session begins with a personal story from one of the authors, and ends with a heartfelt prayer. The lessons are filled with personal application, and you will feel Jesus begin to transform your life as you soak in the material and scripture listed in the study. You will walk through the topics of simplicity, what drives us (and what should drive us), living in the present, being enough, living with open hands, and embracing peace. Some meaningful quotes that stood out to me in this study included: • “Simplicity isn’t really about where we live or what we do – it’s about Who we do life with.” • “By trusting the Good Shepherd, we can experience the radical simplicity of peace and contentment and courage.” • “Jesus doesn’t rise to our emotional frenzy. He gently reminds us to choose what’s better – Him.” • “When we focus on Jesus, our simple tasks become extraordinary offerings.” • “Living a life of simplicity invites us to see waiting not as something to be endured but as something sacred to be enjoyed.” • “Protecting your new commitment to living simply starts by coming with your whole self, quiet before the Lord each day.” I would recommend this study for any woman, no matter what stage of life she finds herself in. We all strive so hard to prove our worth, when really, our worth is in Christ alone. Only he has the power to transform our lives and continue to shape us to be more like him each day. Pick up a copy of this study, and begin to live a life of courageous simplicity, relying solely on him, today! I received a copy of this book from the publisher, in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Excellent study! A must read!

Courageous Simplicity is the first in a series teaching about courage. It is a six-week study that takes you through short insightful readings to thoughtful questions five days each week. They don’t take long to complete. You identify simple changes needed in your own life that keep you from living a simple, connected, abundant, fulfilled life that Jesus teaches, even during your hectic, demanding schedule, as He did, also. I don’t always feel courageous but stressed and worn out. I hold myself back, not meaning to, not realizing what I’m doing that is negatively impacting how I want to live. It sounds simple to correct. Right? Well, it’s not. At least, not for me. I think of great things that define what having courage is all about, all of which I don’t fit the mold in my mind. But, that is not the courage discussed here. There are different types. This is one of them. In the simple actions we take, we find the courage to live the abundant and simple life Jesus teaches and embodies. That is what He wants for us, and that is what we can have. If you are worn down and stressed from the demands of work, life, and “expectations” placed on you or want to instill more courage in your own life, this study will help. Tip: When I’m answering the questions, I find using the Bible Gateway app on my phone useful to compare scriptures quickly. I have many highlights and notes in the margins of this book to reference later, which I don’t want to forget.

An excellent devotional Bible study

I loved this quote from page 8 in this Bible study: “Simplicity isn’t cleared countertops or an empty calendar. It goes much deeper than decluttering. It goes to the heart of our faith. Biblical simplicity calls for a courageous step forward toward pursuing a pure and simple devotion to God—keeping Him and His plans for our lives first in our hearts. Simplicity, very simply, comes from within.” This is a well-written, six week devotional study that helps us take a look at our own heart motives. I especially liked and was challenged by Week Two: “A look at what drives us—what our treasures, time, and search for significance tell us about the state of our inner lives”. Week Four was also an encouraging. This chapter “explores the idea of “enough”—-discovering who we are in Christ.” I felt that the commentary of the study was written in a clear, compassionate way that reached out those who are feeling overwhelmed with the demands of every day life. I thought that the use of scripture was correctly applied, and helped establish a Biblical base of making choices that revolve around a renewed commitment of allowing God to be our source of guidance and peace. The questions are thoughtfully written and easily guide the reader through a look at scripture each day. This is not a “deep dive” type of Bible study, yet it is encouraging and convicting. I went through this on my own, but it would be a wonderful study to do with a group. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

A Wonderful Bible Study That Speaks To The Heart

Courageous Simplicity is a 6-week study that’s written for women who are feeling too busy, tired, overworked and overwhelmed to add anything to their calendars. It’s a plea to set aside all of the busyness that we’ve filled our lives with and an invitation to sit at the feet of Jesus. For those of us who long to turn our burdens over to Him yet don’t quite know how, it’s an exploration of the passages in Scripture that teach us how to cast our cares and anxieties upon Him, a map and compass to the places in Scripture where we can rest and abide in peaceful pastures with Him, and a guide to simpler living through the application of biblical principles. While it’s structured like a traditional Bible study, with 5 days of readings and questions to be completed over a 6 week period, I’m finding it much more useful to go through the study as a quiet time journaling and reflection tool and letting the words of Scripture sink deep into my parched soul. Courageous Simplicity speaks to my heart. Chances are good that it will speak to your heart too! I highly recommend this study.

This is a great study to do on your own or with a group!

One of the things I really appreciated about the “Courageous Simplicity” Bible study from (in)courage is that it speaks volumes to one of the things I’m beginning to value more and more...living a simpler life. I don’t mean giving up on your responsibilities or slacking in other areas of your life. We should all work hard to accomplish what we are called to do, but we also have a responsibility to ourselves...to rest, to heal, to be better equipped to do those things we are meant to do. “[...] through this health issue, God was trying to get my attention. God was asking me to lead a simpler life by doing the hardest thing I had never considered before: I needed to let go of the burdens and responsibilities I could carry no longer, and I needed to trust that he would take care of me.” – Bonnie Gray One of my favorite quotes is from Week 4 Day 1: “God is telling us that the most significant role we can play is to pray for our world and work toward making it thrive.” Note: I received an advance reader copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my review.

Simply a blessing

I was so excited to start this study. I am using it for personal use, however due to the formatting it would be great for group use as well. It's a 6 week (5 days a week) study; each week has a topic and each particular day has its own theme that repeats in reference to the subject. I love a good guided bible study and this is one of the best I've found. Each day starts with a devotional style introduction, and is followed by reading, and related questions, as well as experience based questions that not only help you understand the reading but also practical application. On average the days are approx 7 pages, some longer and some shorter. I've had days where I do multiple in a row, and other days where I stop halfway through the day and don't pick it up for a few more. God's word NEVER returns void... This study has not only rocked my world, but been a spring of living water that I have been able to steward to others ❤️

Easily Relatable!

In this fast-paced society we live in, that took a pandemic to teach us to slow down, relax, take a breath, pause to smell the roses and rest....this new Bible Study by incourage is a helpful tool to help us (esp women like me) navigate through this ever changing world. As a working mom, the short lessons and deeply personal reflections at the end of each Bible lesson are truly helpful . I can easily relate to the testimonies contained here too. The Biblical background that will take us digging deeper will point us back to Jesus as our only source of hope and strength to enable us to live with courageous simplicity. The premise is simple, through studying God’s Word we are encouraged to live simply (as busy stay at home mom or career women) and grow courageously as women of the Word and women of faith...”simply aboding on the abundance of hope in Jesus”. And yet the whole of it is well-thought, put together accordingly and a great reflection of every sort of walk every woman is currently on or looking to pursue. To the writers and the publisher and to (in)courage...well done and glory be to God for this new project!
